A Super Tiny Apartment at 18 sq. m.!

from: http://www.home-designing.com/

Rent to Own.ph: An 18 sq meter hole-in-the-wall and it is impressive!

www.renttoown.ph

The next time you find yourself wishing you had more counter space in your bathroom or making the excuse that you just don't have room in your house to workout, think about this micro home. Designed for an athletic weightlifter and visualized by One Studio, this apartment measures only 18 square meters (less than 200 square feet). But despite the miniscule size, there is space for exercising, sleeping, relaxing, and working.

www.renttoown.ph

The main way that this micro home is able to fit so many different areas into the tiny square footage is the vaulted ceilings, which measure 5 meters (more than 16 feet) high. This nearly doubles the available space because it allows the home to have a completely separate bedroom that is lofted above the main living area.

The living room, with a small exercise space and huge windows, feels quite spacious considering its actual measurements. A lack of really large furniture (e.g., no entertainment center and a fairly small custom built sofa) means there is actually some empty floor to move around or even exercise.

We will say that this is not the house for a gourmet chef. A tiny kitchen space provides a cooktop and microwave, but you would be hard pressed to make a meal for more than two in the cozy cooking nook.

The upstairs lofted bedroom is surprisingly spacious. Plenty of room for a large bed and also a small home office area overlooking the main living room. The room doesn’t even suffer from the loft issues of many spaces with this type of design in that the ceilings are high enough you can actually stand up and move around comfortably, as if it were a full second level.

While the bathroom is naturally small, it still allows for a washing machine and a luxurious tiled shower stall. Overall, this tiny home is quite cute and cozy, really lacking for nothing apart from perhaps a bit more closet space and a full sized fridge.

Peter Kubik's Electrolux Futuristic Table

from: http://www.yankodesign.com/

Rent to Own.ph: Read about this technologically advanced smart table!

The two things that I see common regarding perception of futuristic technology is that products are going to be compact and well integrated. Take for example this futuristic dining table, its designed with all the modern convenience integrated within its belly. Once you sit down, you needn’t get up to make a toast or fetch the coffee, get an apple from the fridge or even wash your dishes. It’s all integrated into the table.

The Form:
www.renttoown.ph
1)   A circular five-seater table with retractable chairs that fit flush with the frame of the table when not in use.

www.renttoown.ph
2) A part of the table used to refrigerate food and is divided into 2 separate sections with a total volume capacity of 203 liters.

www.renttoown.ph
3) At the touch of a button, the black glass top becomes transparent allowing a complete view of the fridge contents beneath it.

4) The food is stored in bins where it is divided into groups (dairy products, smoked meat, vegetables, fruits etc).

www.renttoown.ph
5) This is where a rotating storage compartment is located with a volume capacity of 98 liters, designed to store small groceries.

www.renttoown.ph
6) The second part of the refrigerator is integrated into the center of the table and chills your bottles.

www.renttoown.ph
7) The shelves of the bottle fridge feature punched with holes minimizing the escape of cold air when the refrigerator is lifted. This section has a volume capacity of 105 liters.

8) Two buttons help you to use this second fridge: One for Pulling up the fridge, the other for rotating the stand for easy selection.

www.renttoown.ph
9) Small appliances are located inside a stainless steel inter-circular compartment that is manually rotatable and can store up to 8 different electrical appliances. These appliances are easily replaceable.

www.renttoown.ph
10) The appliances integrated include a mini-dishwasher, toaster, coffee machine, boiling kettle, cold water dispenser, a freezer, mini-microwave and cutlery holder.

www.renttoown.ph
11) The top layer of the table is a touch display screen, allowing access to the internet. It displays daily press (newspaper, magazines), allows search for recipes and enables communications.

12) The table top display can be changed to accommodate soothing views or even fun games.

The Systems Used:

1) Touch OLED display screens that change from complete shade of black to fully transparent to expose content of the refrigerator.

2) Nanotechnology surface (for better cleaning).

3) Pneumatic system (pistons for hoisting electrical appliance), servomotors and electronics.

4) The materials used are glass, plastic (or synthetic stone) and stainless steel.

5) The table is securely anchored to the floor and connected to a source of electricity, water supply, the internet and the waste.

There Are Three (!) Stories Squeezed Into This Skinny Home

from: http://www.countryliving.com/

Rent to Own.ph: Narrow lot area? No Problem! Build it up!

www.renttoown.ph

When someone mentions a "triple decker," you might think of a sandwich with three slices of bread — a pretty hefty lunch. But this three-story skinny house must be the exception that proves the rule. The Asheville, North Carolina cottage (appropriately nicknamed the "Bird House") is so narrow that it's hard to believe there are three levels hiding inside.

As soon as you enter this kitschy vacation rental (yes, you can rent it! It goes for $175 per night) you'll be greeted by two statement-making leopard-print armchairs. Behind them, winding wooden steps lead upstairs to a cozy sleeping loft, and nearly hidden in a dark corner, space-saving spiral stairs connect the kitchen and bar area on the lower level.

Anyone who owns a tiny house knows layout and designer are key — and these homeowners nailed it. They hung mirrors on the walls to help open up the space and opted for large windows when possible. And even when space was restricted, they made it work. For instance, while the home lacked room for one big bathroom, they added an alcove for a sink and mirror set-up and added a tiny private area with the toilet and shower next to it.

www.renttoown.ph

Feeling the squeeze? Double doors in the kitchen (which appears to have once been the garage) open up wide to outside, and the home is only a block away from downtown bars, restaurants, breweries, theaters, yoga, and more.

The 8 Biggest Small Space Design Mistakes (& How You Can Stop Making Them)

from: http://www.apartmenttherapy.com/

Rent to Own.ph: Tips from the design experts!

www.renttoown.ph

From studio apartments to tiny, odd-shaped bedrooms to every other small space in between, tiny homes require a gentle touch, lots of planning and a willingness to learn from your mistakes. And we've got eight you might be making in designing your small space. But don't worry — we've also got suggestions on how to change!
www.renttoown.ph

Using out-of-proportion furniture
This doesn't necessarily mean only use extra-small furniture for extra small spaces. It means look to proportions to guide your design decisions. A big sectional that stretches from wall to wall, for instance, might look better in a tiny living room than an extra small love seat, because small seating might accentuate the fact that the room is small, while a large sofa could make it feel cozy. Or, a petite square dining table might work better in a small dining room when it gives extra room to squeeze around it.

www.renttoown.ph

Not thoughtfully customizing and maximizing the storage space you do have
We're looking at you, vertical space, under-the-bed space, over-the-door space and more. We're talking about lazy susans, tension rods, shelves above doors and other tricks of the organizing trade. It means taking inventory of the storage your home came with and figuring out how you can take it to the next level.

www.renttoown.ph

Having too much of everything
When space is at a minimum, you just can't indulge your collecting urges and have a ton of anything, from pots and pans to art to furniture, paring down will start to become a pleasure when you see how much airier your space feels.

Not thinking it through
It pays to really sit down with a floor plan of your tiny space and some scale furniture to test layouts. Consider furniture that could pull double duty. Really experiment with different ideas to see which way the space feels best for you. Your first furniture placement instincts might not be the best ones — and the best solution might not come to you without some thorough planning, first.

www.renttoown.ph

Breaking the space up too much
You want to be careful with layouts, room dividers, wall paint strategies and even rugs in small spaces — you could be visually breaking up your space into even smaller areas that are making the whole area feel cluttered and compartmentalized. Consider continuous, unbroken floor and wall surfaces if your space is feeling too tight.

www.renttoown.ph

Being afraid to go bold
We won't deny it: Light colors do visually expand a space and make it seem a bit bigger than it maybe is. But we've spoken before about the dramatic effects dark wall colors and luxurious furnishings can have on a small space, too. As with many design ideas, the best practice for a small space is to commit to one design direction and really milk it.

www.renttoown.ph

Not using negative space to your advantage
In small spaces, it's even more vital to give your eyes a break as it scans rooms full of your belongings. Don't feel like you've got to fill every space up; not every wall needs art, not every sofa needs a coffee table.

Paying too much attention to numbered lists and not doing what your space needs
This is an important one! Every home is different, and what works in one won't work in another. Tackle suggestions for improving small spaces intentionally: slowly, one at a time and with permission to change back if it doesn't work.
